Bhagavani, Phoebe McMillan

Bhagavani was first drawn to yoga to balance the stress of being a university student, and since then it’s been a constant companion. She has come to know yoga and meditation as  vital tools for self-exploration, both on the inner planes and the outer world.

Bhagavani has taught in yoga studios, retreats, and has been part of the teacher training team for Trimurti Yoga New Zealand, teaching on subjects such as subtle yogic anatomy, pranayama, yoga nidra, ethics and communication.

Coming from an athletic background, Bhagavani was initially only drawn to the physical aspects of the practice. However after a period of personal hardship, an interest in the subtle, mental, and spiritual aspects emerged over time. This developed a life-long passion for understanding yoga as a powerful tool for healing and transformation.

In 2013, Bhagavani was blessed to find authentic yoga teachings under the guidance of Swami Shantimurti Saraswati at Ashram Yoga in New Zealand. Alongside her RYT-500 hr certifications in classical hatha yoga, meditation, and yoga nidra, she embarked on a degree in Counselling and various somatic therapy trainings, including a 300-hr Trauma Sensitive Yoga certification from the Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) in Boston, USA.

Bhagavani also holds a degree in Sociology & Race Relations, and has been initiated into various vibrational healing methodologies such as reiki. She currently works as a registered counsellor in private practice offering both talk therapy and yoga therapy. Within this work, she promotes embodiment and yogic teachings across mental health settings.

Bhagavani is consistently humbled to witness the innate healing power of yoga across all populations. She is delighted to be part of the Kriya Tantra Institute teaching team.
